Darwin's daily newspaper has been inundated with letters and text messages accusing the Northern Territory government of hypocrisy over calls for a crackdown on unregulated Indonesian abattoirs...

Hundreds of cattle died of starvation at Charles Darwin University's Mataranka Station, about 450 kilometres south of Darwin, in 2008 and 2009.

No one involved in the cruelty has been held accountable, because the Northern Territory government failed to act before the statute of limitations had expired.
