Labor told to stop handing out fake cards

Labor workers have been ordered to stop handing out how-to-vote leaflets on the NSW south coast, after the Liberal Party complained to the NSW Electoral Commission that they were fraudulent.

The Liberals lodged the complaint after 800 fake Liberal cards hidden among Labor Party material were discovered in Wollongong on Saturday, Liberal spokeswoman Wendy Black said in a statement.

"The fake how-to-vote cards falsely indicate that Liberal voters should give their second preferences to the Labor candidate, Noreen Hay," Ms Black said.

"The Liberal Party is not preferencing any other candidates in Wollongong - it is simply urging voters to Vote 1 Liberal."
