Figures obtained by The Sunday Times show a 35 per cent jump in the number of children - some as young as five - being sent home in the past year.

WA Primary Principals Association president Stephen Breen said children were getting out of control at an earlier age...

"This is a big worry. It didn't happen 15 years ago...

"It's a concern not only for educators and schools, but for the whole community.

"I think everyone from governments down to parents need to actually admit that we have some work to do in this area."

Well, it's simple enough, Sherlock. You bring back the cane.

Hopefully it means that the younger generation have some balls & want to fight the system.

Many of the teachers however need to be suspended themselves. From a beam  devil

The cane should never have been done away with and it should be brought back

Cant agree with the cane for a second! If my kid needs a belting I am the one that will be doing it not some dim witted underpaid teacher with a chip on his shoulder though I could do with the exercise sorting the teacher out afterwards.
There are any number of other ways a teacher can and should be able to discipline wayward children sadly those too have gone the way of the dinosaur!

THe way things are these days since the decline of the cane is that the student knowing full well can tell the teacher to get U know what

When I was at school it was not the teachers that promised the cane we were afraid of it was the ones with a sharp mind and a fast tongue who could make you look so stupid your friends would be talking about it for 3 years!

Parents need to take responsibility for the actions of their children. For too long parents have been afraid of disciplining their children in case they are seen as abusers who will be punished by the government/government agencies that wish to take the responsibility. The problem is they (the government)  do not have the balls to responsibly take action against the children who need discipline.

There is a victim mentality (child victims) within the school system/government that places the blame squarely on the shouldres of the parents, yet do not allow the parents the freedom to discipline.

Admitedly abuse is abuse, beating your child is different from giving him/her a good scare and a bit of a smack.

But what happens when children know that they are not allowed to be disciplined? Well we have it now.

Go read "Starship Troopers" by Robert A. Heinlein. Or for those that want to read the wiki on it ..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starship_Troopers

He predicted what was going to happen with our children during this time (backin the 50's)

We reap what we sow.

EDUCATION authorities are locked in a battle with a WA family refusing to send its six-year-old son to school in what could become a legal test case.

The Year 1 student has not been to school since June 18 - after his family says he was wrongly accused of physical aggression.

And the boy's grandfather says he won't go back to class until the school withdraws a "red card" - a warning letter sent to the boy's mother outlining alleged unacceptable behaviour.

Mind you, the rise in the number of suspensions may also have something to do with political correctness these days.
