There is a major problem for the nationalist cause in trying to sell our policies, is the fear among a sizable portion of the electorate that the policy of ceasing net immigration would have disastrous economic consequences if implemented.
The problem is that while many people are very unhappy with high housing prices, urban sprawl and all the other problems high immigration brings in its wake they accept it,having been gulled into believing that the alternative would be far worse. It may well be that as even George W Bush, arguably the most dimwitted US President in living memory couldn't miss: "If people aren't happy with the status quo and they've got access to a ballot box - they'll let you know about it" but by the same token people may very unhappy with the status quo, they accept if they've been led to believe that the alternative would be The End Of Civilization As We Know It.
In my own limited sphere I've been doing what I can, to try and educate people that immigration is not essential for Australia's economic health. Many have been amazed when I've told them that 'Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland to name just a few, have no immigration to speak of and much smaller population sizes and lower population growth rates than Australia, but have much higher per capita incomes.'  What I've learned along the way is, that for every person that knows these facts, there are ten that don't.
How about the APP bringing out a pamphlet, downloadable if possible to try and assuage their fears? This would go a long way toward nipping any potential problem in the bud.

Couldnt hurt and finding a respected demographer (that isnt pink) could add some much needed credibility to it as well !

I think you wrote 'demographer' when thinking 'economist'.

Partly i was thinking of another post i was typing at the same time but a demographer would be far better at determining where in our society immigrants had moved and how productive they may or may not be though your economist would be better suited to putting a $ value on it. For example a demographer would be better suited to tell you what % of a certain migrant group became convicted criminals whereas the economist could tell you what it cost to keep them in prison.
Both would be invaluable in any serious analysis of Immigration and its net cost /benefit.
